For Prospective Students
Professor Dolbow is always seeking talented graduate students to join the Computational Mechanics Laboratory at Duke University. Students with Masters-level experience in computational science or engineering are preferred, although exceptional students completing their Bachelor's degrees will be considered. Competitive stipends will be offerred to the selected candidates, who will be expected to pursue a Ph.D. in the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University.
The personnel in the Duke Computational Mechanics Laboratory are some of the leading experts in nonlinear computational mechanics. Laboratory activities consist of the development of new numerical methods and algorithms, and their use as enabling technology to investigate new theories in mechanics. We seek students with considerable interest in methods development and sound experience in programming numerical methods. Graduates of the program have gone on to take faculty positions at top research programs in the US, research positions at national laboratories, and development positions in industry.
